Toshiba BlackBook

Jaren is at it again. The designer behind the much desired Sony Ericsson Black Diamond mobile concept has created a laptop design one could only hope Toshiba would pick up. The design gives the term “little black book” a whole new meaning. A design like this coupled with the right specifications could give Granny Smith a run for the money. What I really thought was great was the idea of having a small TFT screen displaying the logo as opposed to having one stamped on the case. As noted this could do well for customization and corporate branding.

The keyboard flows smoothly from the casing and the button styling with gloss finish only adds to the attraction. I also love the fact the logo is only in one place. The chrome trim provides a touch of sophistication and stlye. The Toshiba BlackBook just looks sexy, too sexy to be a laptop.

Apple releases the 17

According to gadgetreview the 17″ MacBook Pro has finally been given the “official” greenlight. There is always too much speculation about Apple products so BigBerries tries not to slip into Rumorville like many other sites, but this by all means is real.

For all the luscious details of course you need to visit Apple. I know there may be some buyers who’ll wait for bugs and benchmarks to become available but I don’t think there will be any silent recalls, but we’ll gladly take some silent upgrades like those from Velentine’s Day.

Apple expects the 17″ MacBook Pro to begin shipment in 7-10 business days. Apple

Toshiba Portégé M405

Source: Techliving

BigBerries loves swivel, from mobile phones to swivel-arm-battle-grip action figures. Toshiba drops another reason to make people think twice about UMPC’s, the Toshiba Portege M405.

Quick Specs

Intel Core Duo T2400
12.1″ XGA display
Toshiba EasyGuard
Spill resistant Keyboard
Biometric fingerprint reader
100GB hard drive
Weight: 4.5 lbs
Size: 11.6 x 9.80 x 1.53 inches

Now in addition to the list the Portege gives you 1GB of RAM (2GB max) tri-mode 802.11 a/b/g wireless, FireWire, and USB 2.0. There’s more but I’ll stop because I know a bunch of you are starry-eyed about the Celeron M 900Mhz powered, 512MB RAM having Q1.

The Samsung Q1 is cute and light (1.72 pounds) but I need more power Captain, more power. I really don’t see UMPCs replacing powerhouse, workhorse laptops anytime soon. This isn’t even the top of the heap.
