Motorola Q Finally Getting Amp’d

A snapshot of the Motorola Q from the 68 page PDF

The Motorola Q seems to be on the way to Amp’d Mobile. At least that’s what this 68-page Amp’d Motorola Q User Guide PDF download would have us to believe. I still have a question rolling around in the back of my mind though. Who cares? I thought Amp’d was for the cool kids. Ya’ know the people who like the new new. Not the CDMA old new.

Amp’d Mobile Adds Pre-Paid Option

Amp'd Mobile to offer Pay-As-You-Go service.

Amp’d Mobile has recently added a pre-paid service option titled “Pay-As-You-Go”. Users who choose the pre-paid “Pay-As-You-Go” option unfortunately get hit with a 18% tax for the fun services offered by Amp’d, that includes music downloads, ringtones, mastertones, games, video streams, downloads and wallpapers. So a .99 cent music or video download for pre-paid users is not exactly .99 cent.

According to Mobiletracker Amp’d devices will cost close to $50 (US) dollars more for Pay-As-You-Go users. However, provided Amp’d doesn’t have more than 3 phones (Jet, Angel and the Hollywood) to offer at this point a premium charge can be expected.

Pre-Paid Pricing

Talk $0.10/ min
Push to Talk $1 per day unlimited
Text Messaging $0.10 per message
Pix & Vid Messaging $0.25 per message
Music Downloads $0.99 per song
Ringtones & Mastertones from $1.49 per tone
Games from $4.99 per game
Video streams & downloads from $0.99 per video
Wallpapers from $0.99 per wallpaper

According to the Amp’d Mobile website Push-to-talk ends each day a midnight and picture and video messaging will not be available at launch for Pay-As-You-Go users.

Amp’d Pay-As-You-Go customers can add more usage to their accounts by either paying directly through the phone, goiing online to Amp’d.com or by calling Amp’d Mobile Member Services. Amp’d Mobile offers Pay-As-You-Go in increments of $20, $30, $40 and $50.
