BlackBerry 7130 possible in July for T-Mobile and Vodafone

BlackBerryForums

BigBerries reported on several versions of the Blackberry 7130 spotted on the FCC website a while back. It seems we are not done with the 7130 just yet. Cingular released the 7130c, but it appears another version with the Suretype keypad, EDGE and Bluetooth 2.0 will be making its way to the US via T-Mobile. In the UK both T-Mobile and Vodafone should be receiving the device. July is the scheduled released month.

T-Mobile gets the Motorola V195

Motorola still remembers the market is not just for people who want to buy $500.00 phones. So the company gives T-Mobile a bit of affordability with the Motorola V195. The Bluetooth enabled clamshell has a soft-touch finish with a 1.7-inch color screen and ergonomic keypad. You get plenty of instant messaging choices and a speakerphone. An agreement with T-Mobile will get you the phone for $39.99.

T-Mobile KidConnect

MobileTracker

Disney has one, Verizon has one and now T-Mobile has one as well. One what? A service geared towards children. KidConnect from T-Mobile, which for $19.99 (US) enables unlimited network calling, unlimited weekend calling and 50 whenever minutes. Text messaging gets a bit tricky because they are traded for whenever minutes every 4 text reduces a whenever minute. After 50 whenever minutes are used the phone can’t make calls outside of the network uinless it’s the weekend or to call emergency (911).

Unlike the Verizon Wireless plan which requires a kiddie phone on the account t-Mobile allows the use of any network handset. Working out the minutes to text seems a bit complicated and I can imagine some kids are going to be mad, because those text messages are going to be used within a week.

The Nokia 8801 comes to T-Mobile

T-Mobile is the latest to get the Nokia 8800, dubbed the 8801 for the US. Priced at $549.99 (US) after a $50 instant rebate and as old a dinosaur in phone years. I am starting to wonder if there is something special about this phone that is not being said. However, it is still a sexy design. Did we mention it is made of stainless steel?

Quick Specs

208 x 208 pixel color TFT display
Triband GSM (850, 1800, 1900MHz)
Bluetooth
MP3 player

If it matters CompUSA has the Nokia 8801 for $599.99 unlocked which is quite a bit less than the $799 price tag if you were to purchase it direct from Nokia.

More Sidekick 3 Info

Mobiletracker

Thanks to the FCC we now have more information regarding the T-Mobile Sidekick 3 scheduled to be released by the end of the month (possibly start of the next). The device was approved quite a while ago. As BigBerries reported back in April, Sharp requested confidentiality for 45 days so the availablity today really comes as no surprise.

Quick Specs

EDGE
1.3 Megapixel camera
miniSD card slot
Trackball
Bluetooth
Media player

The Sidekick 3 really meets many of the expectations and speculated leak infor I had for the device in terms of technology added EDGE, Wi-Fi, MicroSD slot and Bluetooth. I really wish a 2.0 megapixel camera would have been added but MySpacers will just have to deal with the 1.3. Now the only thing to know is what is the devices max capacity is for SD cards and dthe display specifications.

Sidekick 3 Promo Shot

T-Mobile may finally release this much anticipated device next month. Bigberries usually doesn’t jump into rumors and speculation but word on the street is a few websites actually jumped the gun releasing some Sidekick 3 information ahead of schedule prompting Danger to lash out. There is even an eBay Sidekick 3 presale. (not endorsing just sharing the info) The nub looked to unreal to me but hey it’s a nice pic.

T-Mobile Offers Flat Rate 3G and Kills Instant Messaging in the Process

T-mobile in the UK has gone flat-rate. Prices have been more than halved and all plans based on megabytes are in rubble. T-mobile now stands alone as the first operator in the UK to shift to exclusively offering flat-rate plans. In doing so T-Mobile believes more than likely there will be a spike in business subscribers due to the reduced cost. However, instant messaging and Internet telephony are both banned. Talk about bummer.

There’s a bunch of hoopla going on and techworld even called T-Mobile’s recent moves draconian. Web ‘n’ Walk allows users to visit anywhere but with serious limitations. UK data use (professional tariff) is limited to 2GB per month. If you use VoIP or IP instant messaging according to the T-Mobile TOS they have the right to your soul. Well not actually your soul but terminated contracts and fried SIM cards are not good either.

Samsung T509 at T-Mobile

The Samsung T509 was covered by BigBerries just under a month ago during CTIA 2006. We said the T509 would be available the first week of May and ba da bing, it is. T-Mobile is really making this phone a steal too. Suggested retail is $199.99 but there’s a $100.00 (US) instant discount and a $50.00 (US) mail-in as well. That drops the price of the Samsung T509 to $49.99.

Being thin is the highlight of the phone, if Samsung had crammed a memory card in there along with a better display and camera the T509 would have really been cooking. However, as an entry level handset the T509 has a lot of features for a phone under $50 bucks.

Quick Specs
Tri-band 850/1800/1900MHz GPRS/EDGE
Bluetooth
Camera w 4x digital zoom
Video capture/playback
Picture Caller-ID
Instant Messaging
Talk time: up to 3.5 hours
Standby: up to 7 days
Size: 4.6 x 1.8 x .4 inches
Weight: 2.7oz
