How good is the internet without a keyboard?

How good is the internet without a keyboard?

Touch screens phones, PMP’s (portable media players) and now MID’s (mobile internet device) seem to be the rage. At least after scanning full a day of posts around the web centered on CES.

The Sony VAIO UX Micro Premium

The Sony VAIO UX Micro Premium

We like these before they went “premo” on us. Now, Sony has beefed up the VAIO UX with a 32GB flash drive and dubbed it “Premium”. Price skeets upwards with the inclusion of the flash drive. However, you’ll be thankful for the speed improvement and longer battery life.

Besides the hard drive upgrade, here’s the Sony VAIO UX Premium under the hood; Intel Core Solo processor, 512MB RAM, 2 digital cameras, VoIP/Wi-Fi, 4.5-inch widescreen SVGA display, USB 2.0 port, Memory Stick Duo slot, GPS navigation etc… Vista-ready and ships in February for $2,500

Tenth Anniversary of Sony VAIO

Sony sends the message in vibrant colors to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the VAIO series. 500 limited edition FJ Graphic Splash Edition notebooks. $1,129.99 is the starting price for the special edition FJ290 notebooks, which gets you a 14.1′ LCD, Wireless LAN, 512MB, 40GB hard drive, a DVD+R double layer optical drive and Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition. However I’m sure you’ll want an upgrade to match the flossy, candy coated exterior. Options include a 2GHz Intel Pentium M chip, 1GB of DDR-SDRAM, a more respectable 100GB hard drive (preloaded with 5 Sony Picture movies), personal engraving and more.

The Sony Paint Bomb: Bravia Unleashed

The Sony Paint Bomb: Bravia Unleashed

The Bravia LCD televisions from Sony have been taken to new levels of color. Somewhere in Scotland, a high rise building was fitted with 70,000 liters of paint, and more bombs than you can imagine. Then it was dutifully handed over to award-winning director Jonathan Glazer to capture the glorious climax on film.

The advertising event took several months of preparation and Sony plans to releae the video to PSP owners in Europe. Photos due this no justice. Watch the video.

Sony Fumbles and BlackBerry will give us some Pearl

Sony Fumbles and BlackBerry will give us some Pearl

PSP fans no doubt are pissed. Sony no doubt is pissed. Apple no doubt is laughing all the way to the bank, while companies scramble, stutter and as the title says fumble, in an attempt to get mobile entertainment off the ground. Engadget has the lowdown on the latest screwup. The culprit this time, DRM. Who would have thought? Now would be a good time to pull a quote.

A big issue for us has been the (Digital Rights Management) and how we can secure that content to the Memory Stick,” says John Koller, senior marketing manager for the PSP. “The studios and the labels don’t want their content floating around.

While you’re over there check out the Blackberry Pearl, known previously as the 8100. Information has been leaking the past few days and it’s safe to say, at the price of $199 this device will fly. But until we see some some real specs and not just hinted sales speak, we’ll reserve judgement. Pardon the mix ups over the past few hours.

Sony PS3 Controller

Sony PS3 Controller

Source: Newlaunches

No more boomerang. What we get instead is a controller similar to the traditional PlayStation controller with no rumble and Nintendo Wii-esque features. Now history will say Sony didn’t steal (officially) the idea from Nintendo but everyone on Earth will be going …yeah riight.

So the controller is wireless, a little larger than previous Sony PS contreollers, has Bluetooth, recharges via USB, incorporates motion technology and is supposed to be more sensitive due to an increase from 8-bit to 10-bit sensitivity.
