Lukewarm Reception for the Palm Treo 500v

The Palm Treo 500v

The UK Vodafone Palm Treo 500v is offical. In the US, many are not impressed. With all the kick-ass phones overseas, I can’t imagine people being impressed there either.

Despite the Palm Treo 500v features there seems to be a disconnect with the public. Expectations are high for Palm to redeem itself from previous shortcomings. The Palm Treo 500v still misses the mark. More►

The Palm Foleo Finally Ditched

The Palm Foleo

It’s about time Palm had the balls to commit this device to the scrapheap. The tech community the world over collectively took a dump on the Foleo when it was unveiled earlier this year, (BigBerries Palm Foleo post) but Palm played deaf, dumb and blind to it all. Thank goodness, Engadget wrote an open letter to Palm. Palm listened and yesterday took action.

Palm Foleo Unveiled as Palm founder sells 15,000 Shares

Palm Foleo

Today Palm announced “the Palm Foleo, the world’s first smartphone companion product”. I don’t quite believe / agree with what they’re positioning it as, because it looks like a regular laptop to me. And so far, most folks on the web have the same perception. More►

Palm Treo 700wx on Sprint

Palm Treo 700wx on Sprint

While some of you undoubtedly prefer a Palm OS on your handheld device, we, if only for the sake of familiarity, have a bias toward Microsoft Windows. With that being said Sprint, rounding out their Palm lineup, recently unveiled the Treo 700wx. Not much different on this device from existing 700′s on the market aside from the additional RAM and the Windows Mobile 5.0 OS. For some the OS is the only thing that matters, more RAM is just a bonus. Sprint is currently letting the Treo 700wx go for $399.99 after $150 instant, $100 mail-in and the obligatory service agreement.

Palm Treo 700p on The Way

After much speculation and many photo leaks both Sprint and Verizon Wireless are expected to carry the officially announced Palm Treo 700p. Palm OS users rejoice! It seems the real excitement (aside from the Palm OS) is around the 320 x 320 resolution touchscreen like the Treo 650. Other than the screen resolution which is from the 650, the 700p received the same hardware foundation as the Treo 700w.

On the software side of course there is the built-in support for key business applications from Microsoft and a PDF viewer, along with support for most common email and communication tools like Outlook, GMail, Yahoo! and AOL. No GSM version has been announced by Palm at this point. Retail pricing after contract is expected to be around $399.
