Well it was said to be a rumor, but apparently it is true. Target retail stores have pulled the Sony Playstation Portable UMD’s from their shelves to make way for something with stonger selling power. I personally had been wondering about the success of the UMD. We watch a ton of movies and only a few actually run advertisements for PSP movies. Anyway if you still need your UMD fix, Target will still have UMD releases available through their website.

EA to Sell Mobile Games Direct to Consumers

Cut out the middle man I say. Hopefully with creation of the new Mobile-Linux open-source foundation this will be very easy. EA Mobile Senior VP Mitch Lasky during the Harris Nesbitt Games Go Mobile Conference in New York stated that the company plans to abandon the traditional carrier sales channel and give gamers the choice of which games they can play by selling to them direct. EA plans to release applications that will allow the company to sell games from thier website and send them directly to the mobile device. Sweet.

Nokia Rolls Out Next Generation Mobile Games

Nokia N-Gage, Nokia NSeries and the Nokia S60 are ready to be played as Nokia rolled out six new titles during E3 2006. Titles include Creatures of the Deep, ONE, Pocket Aces, Pro Series Golf, Space Impact and System Rush Evolution.
Nokia is really stepping up in regards to providing more to do on your phone than make calls, the poker game, Pocket Aces: Texas Hold’em looks like it might be something I’d get busy playing and the Creatures of the depp with the vibration feature looks very promising as well. I’m really surprised at the graphics Nokia is able to squeeze out of these devices. These games will be great for road trips and for those with boring daily commutes.

Nintendo and AOL are giddy about their E3 contest. About an hour ago 12PM EST (US residents only) AOL opened a page on their website for a contest where you can register for a chance to win a trip to Los Angeles, appear on stage at Nintendo’s press conference and be the “first” consumer to play the console in front of the press.
Thought Nintendo was for the kids? Sorry you must be 18 or older to participate. I’m sure at this point you’re wanting a link to the page.
