Palm Foleo

Today Palm announced “the Palm Foleo, the world’s first smartphone companion product”. I don’t quite believe / agree with what they’re positioning it as, because it looks like a regular laptop to me. And so far, most folks on the web have the same perception.

The Palm Foleo has received a fair share of drubbing today, and BigBerries won’t add to it, but one does have to wonder. How does a company that built itself on the idea of freedom from laptops and PC’s and accessing data on the go, unveil a product that some would say contradicts the company core?

To top it off, the founder of Palm unloads 15,000 shares of the company the same day as the Palm Foleo is announced. It almost makes you wonder if this is the end of Palm as we know it, but I digress. The Palm Foleo is here and it might be a surprise despite the resounding boos and hisses being echoed across the web. Expected pricing is $499 after $100 mail-in rebate.
