Commodore Gaming Rigs will big specs specs and hot painjobs ressurect the old school computer company

I’m still waiting for somebody to say this is an elaborate hoax, but it seems to be that Commodore has grown tired of its old school image and is launching a series of gaming computers aimed at generation now.

All of the upcoming systems will run on the 64-bit verison of Microsoft Windows Vista. Specs on the top model include a GX6700 Core 2 Extreme CPU, 2 nVidia 8800 GTX graphics cards and 4GB of memory all slapped on an ASUS nForce motherboard.

No prices have been stated but online orders will begin in April. Before Commodore Gaming systems get priced I thought I’d check to see what the prices are for the listed parts individually.

Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad-Core processor QX6700: 2.66GHz 8M Cache ($999), 4GB Corsair DominatorDominator 2xTwin2×2048-8500C5D Memory 1066MHz ($315), ASUS P5N32-E nForce 680i SLI motherboard ($249), Creative Labs SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer ($134), nVidia 8800 GTX 768MB graphics card ($569)x2 Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10,000 RPM SATA hard drive ($209) x2 Seagate Barracuda 7200 50GB 7200 RPM SATA hard drive ($144)

Over $3000 so far and don’t forget, that’s still without the 1000W power supply, the Philips DVD drive, keyboard, mouse, monitor or case. Let’s hope Commodore doesn’t try to charge through the roof for paint. Commodore Gaming PC
