Verizon Wireless to Showcase MediaFLO during CES 2007

TVphones are the new cameraphones and Verizon Wireless is looking to take advantage of newly developed networks and more capable phones being offered by manufacturers with MediaFLO.

The mobile TV service from Verizon Wireless is scheduled to be announced officially when CES 2007 kicks off next week. Verizon currently provides video clips on-demand with V CAST but MediaFLO will offer live mobile TV through Qualcomm technology ranging from 24 to 30 frames per second.

This time around the focus is not on handsets, but the technology behind them. In particular, mobile TV. Well after the HTC roadmap for 2007 leaked the other day you can only expect so much more from HTC regarding a few of their upcoming handsets. The HTC Star Trek was a winning handset for some and accordingly HTC is loooking to continue its winning ways with an update of the previous model.

Janky, computer-generated, watermarked roadmap picture permitting, we’ll go with Mr. Chen on this one and give the upcoming HTC Star Trek a nod of approval. Speculation includes 2 megapixel camera, music playback, Wi-Fi and GPS. You can of course read the roadmap for yourself.
