Rolling out in their “Sunday Best” during the North American International Auto Show are Ford and Microsoft with the “Sync” system. Looking to bring more media to users more often, we’ll all be able to connect via in-dash USB ports with our media players of choice (Zune / iPod) and control them with buttons on the steering wheel or through voice-activation.
iPod and Zune users aren’t the only ones who get to have all the fun, as the new system born from the Microsoft / Ford collaboration also works with Bluetooth-enabled smartphones and PDA’s. Even thumb drives are said to be getting a piece of the action.
Snatch Internet broadcasts and read text messages to you while you drive, drink coffee and thumb your BlackBerry / Treo. Looking to please your inner-Michael Knight, Ford is planning to make Sync technology available, for less than a grand, starting with 12 models in 2008.
