Windows Mobile

Currently possessing the codename of Crossbow, the Microsoft OS for mobile phones was recently previewed by Mobile-Review. Crossbow, to be known in the future to the masses as Windows Mobile 6.0, was also handled by David Ciccone, who unfortunately, wasn’t very impressed with the upcoming Microsoft release. You can watch the video here, here or here.

If you are familiar with Windows Mobile 5.0 the video doesn’t feature anything too spectacular. Mobile-Review even calls the OS Windows Mobile 5.0 Second Edition because it lacks a plethora of new goodies and is not a total OS revamp. For me that’s okay and it goes with the Microsoft stance of enabling users to become familiar with, and being able to use MS products with ease no matter what the device is.

Sneakpeak Video of Next Generation Windows Mobile

Windows Mobile 7.0, currently in development, codenamed Photon will receive the overhaul and finally bring together the split of Pocket PC and Smartphone variations of the Windows Mobile OS. Photon however, is in development and possibly still a few years away.
