The Samsung SCH V960

2006 is coming to a close and besides the all but forgotten RIM vs. NTP escapade that occured earlier in the year, Samsung has been doing just about everything to mark 2006 as their year. Even as we get our final tuxedo fittings for New Year’s Eve, Samsung has unloaded yet another “world’s first” with the Samsung SCH V960 touting the claim, by way of an optical joystick (like the bottom of your mouse) to help navigate through the phone menus.

You still use your finger to navigate but now you “scroll” over the optical sensor which removes the limitations of the standard four-way nav pad that you’re used to.

Aside from the joystick, the Samsung SCH V960 has decent current generation specs; MP3 player, 2 megapixel cam, 2 plus inch QVGA display, MicroSD card slot, USB, Bluetooth, PictBridge, GPS and EV-DO data. Korea, as usual is slated to get the handset first, which is expected to arrive by the end of December.
