What do you get when you take the most addictive business handheld and give it a media player, a 1.3 megapixel camera and a MicroSD memory card slot? The BlackBerry Pearl. Rim is unloading later in September, the 12th to be exact, what is most likely going to be the surprise hit of the 4th quarter mobile shopping season.
The year has been a rough and wild one for RIM and the BlackBerry Pearl is looking to be the needed shot in the arm to take the company to the next level as the business-oriented smartphone market gets ridiculously crowded with handsets coming from Palm, Motorola, Samsung and just about every other manufacturer capable of putting one into production.
The BlackBerry experience and the joys of multimedia in one device to please everyone. T-Mobile is the first on the block to have it. Pricing is said to be $200 (USD) after contract. No word on how long the exclusive is for the phone but we expect the BlackBerry Pearl to make the rounds to other carriers after a few months.
