New solution provides mobile access to enterprise information leveraging the Google Search Appliance and BearingPoint’s strategic information management and system integration capabilities
Today, Motorola, Inc. announced the addition of contextual search capabilities to its MOTOPRO(TM) Mobility Suite to enable secure, mobile access to enterprise information. Contextual search can make results more relevant by automatically
refining them based on metadata related to things such as user location and current tasks being performed.
Motorola’s recently launched MOTOPRO(TM) Mobility Suite provides a platform for rapid mobile application design and deployment, coupled with enterprise-class device security and management. Adding contextual search capabilities to the platform will allow enterprises to make structured data sources such as ERP and CRM databases, as well as unstructured data such as email and word processor documents available for easy mobile access and search.
“The world’s increasingly mobile workforces require secure, seamless access to enterprise information to be effective outside the office,” said John DeFeo, corporate vice president, Motorola Enterprise Products. “Contextual search extensions enable efficient and intelligent mobile search capabilities, helping to improve the accuracy and relevance of search results. By adding this functionality to the Mobility Suite, enterprise mobile workers will now have immediate access to all the information available about their customers, products and partners from virtually any point on the globe.”
Motorola will leverage Google’s “OneBox for Enterprise” feature of the Google Search Appliance to maximize usability of the solution on the Motorola Q Smartphone, HC700 rugged handheld series and other enterprise devices.
“Information access isn’t just an issue when you’re at your desk,” said Dave Girouard, vice president and general manager, Google Enterprise. “Google is working to make all corporate information accessible through a fast and familiar search interface, and we are pleased to work with Motorola to bring that capability to the mobile world.”
BearingPoint intends to work with Motorola to identify innovative ways to leverage the Mobility Suite to deliver business context, location and user preference requirements to increase relevance and accuracy of search results. BearingPoint also plans to provide business systems integration and management consulting capabilities that enhance the enterprise search solution by helping connect various sources of enterprise data and manage access control profiles.
“We look forward to extending the capabilities of Motorola’s Mobility Suite to support mobile search applications that enable businesses to be more agile, responsive and smart,” said Michael D. Lyman, BearingPoint executive vice president and chief strategy officer. “In contributing our industry knowledge, management consulting expertise and depth of experience in applications development and integration services, our cooperation with Motorola will help offer enterprise search and information management solutions that deliver tangible results.”
The Motorola MOTOPRO Mobility Suite contextual search extension will be available in Q4 2006. For more information on the Mobility Suite and Motorola’s complete portfolio of Enterprise Mobility Solutions, visit.
