The IDEN phone we covered a few months back, the Motorola i580, is finally ready for consumption by you outdoor types. SprintNextel and Motorola apparently are in a lovefest celebrating the release of the iDEN clamshell which meets military specs for rain, dust, shock and vibration, even though it is not available in Hot Pink, Pumpkin or Mandarin Orange.
You can listen to MP3s while playing paintball with the i580 but we don’t recommend it, however the use of Bluetooth, Direct Send, and other walkie-talkie features make it good for communication between team members. The rubber gripped clamshell is priced at $279.99 after discounts, promotions contracts and so forth.
