Apple wants movies for iTunes, at a fixed price of $9.99, but it seems those studio execs want a sliding scale ranging from $9.99 to $19.99. Will they never learn? Even with Apple reportedly wanting to provide a lionshare of 70%, it seems Hollywood may be forcing Apple to fold its’ hand and succumb to the sliding price schedule. The studios feel the pricing should range just the same as current DVD pricing with differences between classics and new releases. I just find it hard to believe $19.99 for an iTunes movie coded for a screen no bigger than the palm of a persons hand will garner the same results as a regular DVD or an HD DVD for just a few dollars more with all the fixins’. Anyway this is all said to be completed by the end of 2006 just in time for the Holiday Season.
