Disney has one, Verizon has one and now T-Mobile has one as well. One what? A service geared towards children. KidConnect from T-Mobile, which for $19.99 (US) enables unlimited network calling, unlimited weekend calling and 50 whenever minutes. Text messaging gets a bit tricky because they are traded for whenever minutes every 4 text reduces a whenever minute. After 50 whenever minutes are used the phone can’t make calls outside of the network uinless it’s the weekend or to call emergency (911).
Unlike the Verizon Wireless plan which requires a kiddie phone on the account t-Mobile allows the use of any network handset. Working out the minutes to text seems a bit complicated and I can imagine some kids are going to be mad, because those text messages are going to be used within a week.
