Motorola is getting busy at WiMAX World Europe, showcasing MOTOwi4. The latest addition is the carrier-class WiMAX solution. (It seems the industry events never stop.) This may be boring for a few people because it’s not Motorola Q news (which upon speaking to a associate said will be released by Wednesday May 31st) but it is important as Motorola much like Nokia and Ericsson seems to be really making aggressive steps to improve the quality of our mobile life.

The WiMax solutions Motorola is presenting are important because as we move into products that require and focus on rich-media we need better reception, functionality and greater access to multiple points simultaneously. I love how Motorola does the live demonstrations which give more credibility to the technology being introduced as opposed to just having people speak and running presentations on video or Powerpoint.

Motorola’s live MOTOwi4 demonstrations include:

* Motorola’s new carrier-class WiMAX network, an 802.16e solution that uses advanced antenna techniques to provide greater coverage range and building penetration, which will perform rich media downloads and video streaming through a laptop. Based on Motorola’s Carrier Access Point architecture, this is an all-IP fully distributed peer-to-peer
architecture solution that reduces the amount of equipment needed. It is planned to support both 2.5GHz and 3.5GHz networks

* IP video telephony and rich media downloads over Motorola’s 802.16e-based MOTOwi4 Ultra Light Access Point and Canopy(R) solutions

* MOTOwi4 networks connected to Motorola’s next-generation converged core network powered by IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS).
