EQO has presented a free, downloadable J2ME version of Skype for use on Palm devices. In order for the application to work it must be run simultaneously with a PC plugin.
At this time the client supports Treo 600 and 650 handsets, and gives users the ability to make and receive calls and instant messages. The beta application even allows you to maintain your contact lists.
Although not a final solution, the beta program is something that many have been waiting for. The download is available for both Mac and Windows.
