At a Glance: Kyocera, Portable Film Festivals and Lionhead

Kyocera

Slashphone, running laps in Vegas during CTIA 2006 is saying Kyocera Wireless is showing proof of taking an early lead in CDMA Wi-Fi convergence.

Handset demonstrations, including a dual-mode mobile with Wi-Fi based VoIP and streaming content.

I can only assume content means video and music, because multimedia and business applications are all we really care about.

Here’s a photo.

Portable Film Festival

Moving right along, the Portable Film Festival is accepting entries until May 28. Good deal. You want the whole pie? Click yourself to Portable Film Festival. Before you go stop by SmartMobs, read a few articles, click a few ads, you know… make yourself useful.

Categories included in this years film fest: Desktop Experiment, Postcard, New World Order, Watch My Moves, Generational Eye, and General.

Lionhead

Last but not least the Lionhead story, I picked this up, well because I like the name Lionhead. BigBerries usually doesn’t chase rumors, so there’s my excuse. Playfuls.com posted this tidbit.

fact: Microsoft Game Studios has finally proclaimed the acquisition of Lionhead Studios, the company founded by Molyneux after his departure from Bullfrog in 1997. No figures relating to the transaction were revealed, however Microsoft took advantage of this opportunity to announce that, by now, Fable’s Xbox and PC versions have collectively surpassed the 2 million global unit sales milestone.”

Hey, you know what they say if you can’t beat’em, buy’em. That’s no knock to Microsoft either, in many areas it makes for better in the long run.

At a glance.
