Peeking around, it seems Cingular Wireless wants to offer better ringtones. I guess the best way to offer them is to solicit songs from users of MySpace.

Cingular Mobile Music Studio is the tool to use. The whole process is being trialed by 75 lucky acts picked from MySpace.

MySpace can’t keep secrets long because as of this writting there are already over 600 friends for cingular.

The first group to be able to give this a full go is Shifter. Shifter is a rock band that is looking to tear down the walls of the US market and bring some noise.

You see, Shifter is from Australia but if MySpace and Cingular have it their way Shifter will become International superstars and with their new ringtones you’ll hear them first, before they were famous. I visited myspace and the song I hear from them kicks!

“This is a huge opportunity for us, and we’re really excited to be the first MySpace artist actually using Cingular’s Mobile Music Studio to create a ringtone of our song, “Butter,” said Michael Nason, lead singer of Shifter.

Cingular Mobile Music Studio should be available shortly. BigBerries just posted a story about Billboard charting ringtones. Music is definitely taking a new shape.
