About a month ago, actually a month ago today, Bigberries covered Nokia and the Payload video game. Well, though it seemed to never truly leave, it seems Nokia’s N-Gage is back. according to mobile-info, citing cnet.

What does this mean exactly?
Very simply, instead of needing the N-Gage phone as before, what Nokia will do is have N-Gage software pre-programmed smart phones. Users will then be able to buy games, download games and play games from MMC cards.
I do agree with www.mobile-info.info, in regards to Nokia spending more money in an area that is about to be assaulted by the gaming industry. Nintendo DS, PSP, a possible portable from Microsoft competition will be stiff.
However, with Playstation 3 being pushed back and Xbox being hard to catch, mobile gaming can gain some traction if developers are willing to gamble and can manage to produce hits while the window of opportunity is open. Mission Impossible 3 may be the point we see change.
