The Samsung SGH-D870

Two more of the slider models released from Samsung thus far during CeBit 2006. The features are much similar to the other recently announced Samsung Sliders

These two models can be considered a few rungs higher up on the Samsung the ladder, with subtle, yet significant differences between them.

Both models are Tri-band phones operating on 900, 1800, and 1900. The SGH-D870 and the SGH-E900 both have EDGE and media players capable of MP3, AAC, ACC+ and e-AAC+. Each phone is Bluetooth enabled and has USB connectivity.

The Samsung SGH-D870 is slightly larger than the SGH-E900, measuring 103.5 x 51 x 13 mm comapared to the SGH-E900 which is 93 x 45 x 16.5 mm, but both reportedly weigh the same, 93g.

The Samsung SGH-E900

The Samsung SGH-D870 (pictured above) also has a slightly larger display, but the phones share the same resolution of 240 x 320 pixels.

The most notable difference is the 3.13 megapixel camera equipped within the SGH-D870.

Samsung SGH-E900 has a slightly more subtle design, which makes itself apparent immediately when viewing both devices. This model however, contains a 2.0 megapixel camera.

The Samsung SGH-E900 adds another format to the media player, WMA. Another similarity with the Samsung SGH-D870 is the 80MB of embedded memory which is expandable through a MicroSD memory card.

While Samsung has presented many phones this year, in the same manner as Sony Ericsson, I do believe holding them back until 3rd quarter 2006 release may mark a dent in their expectations.

However, I do like the fact that Samsung is offering 2.0 megapixel cameras as opposed to 1.3. It’s been been great watching reviewing and reading Cebit 2006. More information coming Monday.
