Just in case you missed it, San Fran is looking to be another one of those wireless cities. New York, Chicago and now San Francisco. There’s been speculation for the past few months about Google and some sort of wireless venture.

Well, finally the official word is Google and Earthlink. Earthlink is currently building and presenting similar projects elsewhere in the US. Google also has web-access in the works. In particular a 5 year deal with Mountain View, California.

It took me by surprise that Google did not team up with SBC, recently turned AT and T since they provide the local service in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The next question to ask is, how are local service providers going to respond to the search giant cutting into provider territory?
